Activists in Kuwait announced on Sunday their plan to launch an international campaign to break the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip by Israel and its allies, Quds Press has reported. The campaign will be under the umbrella of the International Committee for Breaking the Siege of Gaza.
“Based on our responsibility, and humanitarian and Islamic duty, we are moving to support the Palestinians in Gaza and to use all means to end the siege imposed on them,” explained the head of the campaign in Kuwait, Saad Al-Nashwan. He pointed out that the campaign will start on 22 September and will last until the end of the month with the intention of increasing awareness of the suffering of the Palestinians under Israel’s siege.
“The Zionist occupation has been imposing a crippling siege on our relatives in Gaza that have affected every aspect of their life for 17 years,” said Nashwan. “The siege has damaged healthcare and the economy.”
He called on the Union of Arab Lawyers to file a complaint against the “Zionist entity” at the International Court of Justice in order to “punish Israel for its ‘illegal’ siege.” The responsibility for ending the Israeli siege on Gaza rests with the international community, added the activist.
Indeed, former Kuwaiti MP Walid Al-Tabtaba called for the international community to end the siege and open Gaza’s only port to international trade. Several other speakers voiced their support for the Palestinians in Gaza and stressed the importance of supporting them and ending the Israeli siege.
