The 2023 World Water Day is themed “Accelerating Change” to solve the water and sanitation crisis, Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment announced.
The event encourages people to take small steps to change the way they use, exploit, consume and manage water.
The celebration of this World Water Day indeed coincides with the start of the United Nations Water Conference 2023, which will be held from March 22 to 24, in New York.
Co-organized by Tajikistan and the Netherlands, this Conference aims to carry out a mid-term review of the implementation of the International Decade of Action “Water and Sustainable Development” (2018-2028) in order to to help countries achieve the water-related goals and benchmarks set for the period 2018-2028.
World Water Day, which has been held on March 22 every year since 1993, is a United Nations observance that emphasizes the importance of fresh water.
World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the plight of the 2.2 billion people who live without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis. One of the main purposes of World Water Day is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6: clean water and sanitation for all by 2030
